Timeshares - Is There an Alternative?

Author: Joe Habbal
Timeshares are appealing and were invented to solve a common problem. Everybody wants the best "bang" for their buck and would like to get the most possible out of their vacation. Nobody wants to buy a property at full price just to use a few weeks every year.

At the same time many timeshare owners report disadvantages that can give them setbacks and frustration. They discover that they can never get back what they originally paid, and selling their timeshares is cumbersome with all the competition from other sellers. Maintenance fees and the time-of-availability can be a burden also. Renting or joining an exchange program may not be the easiest solution in many cases.

Luxury Resorts Memberships are becoming widely available, and offer the same or better luxury and comfort as timeshares do with much more freedom. Many of these Resorts already have timeshare sections on their premises and offer comparable units to the public.

The real advantage is the low initial cost in comparison to timeshares. Memberships are at a historical low and what used to cost over $10,000 a few years ago, is only a couple of thousands or a bit more today. Also, due to the huge buying powers of the network, weekly stay prices are generally low and savings can reach 80% or more. The membership network I belong to, has thousands of resorts available worldwide, and offers complete flexibility on where I can take my next vacation. I also enjoy the privilege of having access to the highest rated 4 & 5 star resorts on short notice. Luxury resorts network members experience peace of mind knowing that they can take as many vacations as they desire for a fraction of the actual cost. They also enjoy their vacations without the worry of being tied down by maintenance fees, time constraints or a fixed location.
