Elliptical Trainer Reviews - Important Reading for Those in the Market for One of These Excellent Additions to Your Cardiovascular and Scultping Routine

If you're looking to buy an elliptical trainer, there are a few things you definitely need to know so you can buy the right machine, and have it for many years to come as a maintenance free, hassle free piece of exercise equipment. Since it is a fairly large investment, you want to be sure you are going to like it, that it agrees with your body, that it is convenient and maintenance free, and that it will be around for years to come.

Elliptical trainers provide one of the best, low impact but high calorie burning workouts you can get today. Most people opt for the elliptical over a recumbant bike or treadmill due to its superior calorie burning capabilities and smooth movement, which makes for less wear and tear on your sensitive joints, tendons and ligaments. What does this translate into for you? Quite simply, the perfect workout.

You burn more calories and fat, while sculpting lean beautiful muscles due to the smooth movement. The elliptical trainer machine is excellent for adding lean muscle rather than bulk to the legs, thighs and quadriceps due to it's range of motion and smooth, flowing movement. This is in contrast to the sometimes bulk building, joint-unfriendly movement and impact of a treadmill, or the rubbing and irritation of the joints on a bike or any other excercise machine where there are sharp or sudden movements which cause a lot of friction, not to mention the subsequent bulk of the thighs and quads that will result.

A Review of the Features You Should Look For When Shopping for an Elliptical Trainer

1.) Range of motion. The strides should be long and smooth, not choppy and short. If you can't go to the store and try it out, or you're an online buyer, just make sure you read some consumer reviews on the elliptical machine you're looking at before plopping down the money for it.

2.) Ease of glide. If it feels like it's too hard to move things along, this is a sign of a bad elliptical - probably cheaply made.

3.) Noise. The best elliptical trainers will have a good noise control system for minimum nuisance and an added perception of tranquility.

4.) Detailed console. Extras like heart rate, calories burned and special workouts may be something you are looking for. The most important display, of course, will be the time and approximate calories burned.

5.) Easy storage. Do you want one that is "foldable" for easier storage, or does this not matter?

6.) Price. While this may not always be the best thing to go on when purchasing an elliptical, this will of course be a factor in your decision. Word to the wise: don't skimp too much. If you do, you may be sorely disappointed and might even send it back. Cheaply made ellipticals can make for one of the worst workout experiences since they usually are too difficult to get moving, or are built so cheaply you feel as though you may collapse the machine just by getting on it. Look for a sturdy, reliable brand - with good consumer reviews, and you should be just fine.
